Panerai is well known for their rugged dive watches and the Luminor Marina is a well known watch that has its roots from the 1940s. It has a long eight day power reserve manual wind movement, similar to the Panerai made for the commandos of the Italian Navy in the 1950s. The easy to read dial and robustness is still present in this faithful modern day watch: a minimalist and simple iconic design - designed just to tell the time.

  • The Panerai Luminor wears big, bold and sends a strong image of masculinity. It wears large on a 7 inch wrist, though those with smaller wrist might still be able to pull it off due to its rugged tool watch looks. It’s a watch that is instantly recognisable, with a deep black dial with simple numerals at the 12,3,6 and a small running seconds hand. A date window is absent on purpose as part of its design as it was clearly made in inspiration for military use - which of course there is no need to know the date during a Mission. Flip the watch over and you can admire the Brand’s famous P.5000 manual wind movement with an eight day power reserve. One of the joys of owning a watch like this is that I still get to interact with the watch once weekly, by unlocking the crown lock lever and winding it. The brilliance of it is that it never feels like a chore and is still practical as you don’t need to wind it daily or too often. If you have a smaller wrist size (below 7 inches), wear it on a light brown leather NATO strap like the one we selected and packaged together with and you might be surprised on how wearable it is! Don’t try it with a business shirt though, this watch won’t slide under the shirt cuff easily, unless that was your styling intention in the first place
