Overview
King Seiko's were first launched in 1960s and in many ways, were the predecessor to Grand Seiko, which is of course more well known today. The story goes that Seiko had 2 factories, the Daini and Suwa factories which competed to make the best Seiko's at that time and King Seiko's were made exclusively by the Daini factory, whilst Grand Seiko's were manufactured in the Suwa factory. In the end, Grand Seiko won the internal competition as it was awarded the Chronometer Certification by winning the Swiss Observation Trials in the 1970s.
What really stands out on this watch particularly is how flawless the dial is, even though it is over 50 years old. It has no noticaeble blemishes and no indication or sign of water damage of any kind and any signs of restoration done to it. The dial has a wonderful sunbrust finish which catches the light with the indices being beautifully polished. The hands are also in great condition and the case is a very classic design, and restored to a high polished look. The boxed acrylic crystal further enhances the distortion when viewed at angles, giving the dial a dynamic and warm tone in sunlight.
This watch was procured from Japan directly and was also serviced and finished by a Japanese Watchmaker, being faithful to it's birthplace and has stayed in Japan until today. It's paired to a stunning blue lizard grain genuine leather strap which brings out the beauty of the watch in all situations. We rarely stock vintage watches, but when it's in this kind of great condition, it really is hard to pass it up!
